Ancient African?s and today to some degree had a very strong tie to a ancestral values and traditions and carved figures used in ceremonial functions such as weddings and births. Many sculptures were carved and given as gifts for these occasions and held high value by the person who received them. The items below show some insight into ways, looks and traditions of the African people. Each piece is individually hand carved and a one of a kind piece with no two being exactly the same.

These pieces are all one of a kind, carved using different types of stone such as Serpentine, Verdite, Springstone, African Butter Jade, Wood and Rapoko, an African term for soapstone used by indigenous carvers throughout the world.
African Handcrafted Heads
Above we have a selection of African hand carved wooden and stone heads or busts, carved of tribal African people both men and woman either in their natural form or wearing traditional head gear. The wood and stone used will vary depending on location and natural materials available.
Each tribal bust is individually hand carved which means no 2 head carvings will be exactly the same. We have sourced our head carving from all over Africa however the best head carvers are found in Southern Africa and mainly in Zimbabwe and Malawi.
